Revival (I Had Been Dormant) Emilia Ricciuti
Pittsburgh, PA
ISSUE 1
I had been dormant
My body burned to the ground
Leaving barren bone absent of belief
Nerves cold under an ashen
Blindfold
No light
But his soul is gold
Bright like new life
Warm like a summer storm
And he showers me
With hours of heat
Steam seeps under my skin
Seeds are planted deep within
Vines unfurl as my toes curl
And soft lightning strikes
Welcome even the night
The rhythm of organisms
Repopulate, pollinate
Invigorate places that
I had forsaken
It is time for me to awaken
It is morning
And his lips press
Against my neck, my chest
Without warning
Fingers linger, tingle and
Flowered trees take root
Rivers flow slowly as he breathes
And like the leaves
I fall into the breeze
